Tips For an Extraordinary Bedroom

Today I have a special guest post for ya’ll! Kathy Joe from Yorkshire Linen blog is here with some AMAZING tips to help create an extraordinary bedroom! I know I can use all of these tips since my new bedroom is in need of some massive help.

Take it away Kathy!!

Hi everyone! I am Kathy Joe & I am super excited to be here today! I am thankful to Kristina for sharing my thoughts. You are more than welcome to come by my blog anytime!
We have all seen perfect bedrooms that we crave, and yet never try to achieve the same look as we fear that the cost will be too high, that the look is not right for our home, or simply that we do not ‘deserve’ such a nice room. Well, that is all a thing of the past! With modern manufacturing methods, advances in d?cor and design and even modern theories in psychology it is now possible for someone to have the perfect bedroom of their dreams, even on a limited budget!

Use In-Built Features

Before beginning any decoration project, have a look at the bare bones of the room. Make good use of any architectural features that already exist in the room. Bay windows are a fantastic site for a wide window seat or workspace, and maximizing high ceilings adds an expensive, sumptuous look to even smaller rooms. Pick out these features in contrasting colours in order to draw the eye to them, and ensure that your bedding follows through with the colourful promise initiated by these features.

Choose Bedding To Be A Fabric Queen

Whenever you are buying something for your bedroom be sure to choose your fabrics wisely, especially in the bedroom. Not only must your fabric items look good, but they must feel good too, particularly bedding which will rest against your skin for the entire duration of your night’s sleep. Silk effect and satin fabrics look fantastic and feel sensuous against your body, while cotton is crisp and recalls pleasant childhood memories of slipping between fresh sheets and feeling safe and secure at home.

This Yorkshire Linen’s bedding set is my favorite at the moment because of classic florals, enriched fabric and crisp stripes. I even love the phrase on the pillows of “Sweet Dreams”.

Get Fresh!

Any room is instantly improved and made more luxurious by the addition of a vase full of fresh flowers, beautifully arranged and chosen to match decor scheme colours. In the bedroom, it is best to avoid having fresh flowers or plants on the bedside as they can compromise the availability of air and can cause respiratory upsets, especially in people who suffer from asthma and other breathing difficulties. However, fresh flowers on the chest of drawers, dressing table and anywhere else in the bedroom will infuse the room with a delicate fragrance as well as the sight of floral beauty a must for every room!

Bin It, Stash It or Move It!

Think for a moment about every room that you have ever admired? What do they have in common? There is no mess, no daily
clutter, no garments or books left for ‘just for a minute while I’, you get the idea! Rigorously declutter your whole home, and ensure that your bedroom remains a clean and tidy haven from the outside world at all times! Too much clutter, even if it is neatly arranged, can detract from a decor scheme, overpowering the delicately patterned bedding, swamping your beautifully blended colour scheme and making the whole space look overused and cramped. Invest in some storage units and use them,
brutally clearing out anything unwanted or no longer used.
