Target Lamp Look For Less

I ran across this lamp base at Target the other day and thought it was so cute. At $25, I thought it was pretty affordable, but knew I could do even better!

I had some wine bottle lamp kits at home, and figured I could rig up something if I just found the right base. I was browsing the clearance end caps- the most dangerous part of Target- when I came across some glass vases that were on clearance for $10.48 each. So I put the lamp back, grabbed 2 vases and scurried home. Unfortunately,  I was scurried home way too fast and one of the vases fell onto the floor of my car and the neck of it shattered.   Lame.

So instead of 2 new lamps, I only ended up getting one. I already had the lamp kit wired and ready when I was using it on a wine bottle, so by the time I was done cooking my Lean Cuisine, this lamp was done!

Putting the lamp kit together was so simple, the instructions provided were very detailed. I simply just took my already assembled kit and set it on the vase. So easy!

The most time consuming part of this DIY was taking off the clearance stickers- why can’t they just use tags on these things?     The total cost of my new lamp- excluding the lamp kit I already had- was $25.47- the cost of the lamp base alone! :) Don’t you just LOVE it?! I love when these super quick DIYs come together so perfectly. And how cute it this lampshade (which was only $14!)?   So there it is! My super quick and awesome look for less!

I love it. Could you get a glass store to smooth out the top of the broken one? I love the look of the younger generation of white and beige. In ole Via I come from the old colonial arer but even though most of that is gone, I’m still not up to you yet. My daughter says when I move, out with the old and in with the new. Oh what fun yard sales could be then!

I’m thinking we can still make a lamp out of the broken one, it’ll just be a bit shorter. I didn’t even both attempting to figure out the puzzle pieces to glue it all back together. We have some drill attachments that are for smoothing out and drilling into glass, so I may try that.
I love the old colonial look! I really enjoy older homes and decor mixed with modern.

I know :/ I was pretty upset. But I think if I can use our glass drill bits then I can cut a bigger hole on the top where it is broken and make a glass planter!

I love your lamp! I would definitely try to salvage the broken one. Maybe there’s a way to wrap something around the top to hide the broken glass?

I love switching up the lampshade with lamp bases as opposed to buying one already chosen. It just gives it to much more personality! Yours looks beautiful!! Stopped by from Time To Sparkle!

Good job on the lamp, but where, where did you get the bicycle candle. I really need to find one of those!

Great finds! I was thinking you could take the broken one to a glass cutting company and make a pendant light with it. It would look so lovely in a little reading nook! Nice job on the lamp! Michelle @ Dandelion Patina

    Hi Kristina,
What a great idea. People are making beautiful lamps for such little money. I really need to jump on the bandwagon. I could use a new lamp for my office. They are so expensive from the store. Thanks for reminding me to think out of the box.
    Have a great weekend.

You really hit the jackpot with your lamp - it looks fantastic, and at a super bargain price. Love the shade too (and your super cute framed horseshoe - LOVE that a ton!). I’ll bet you can salvage your broken vase - maybe it will turn out to be a happy accident! Jane
