Today I’ve got a quick picture post for an easy DIY project. I was looking for a way to be able to change my gallery wall up for different seasons and holidays. Instead of buying more frames and prints to change out seasonally, I took to Pinterest, better than Google, and found out I can take a cheap picture and turn it into a chalkboard!
Check out the beautiful details on this frame. I can’t believe I got it for $5 at an auction!
All I did was take the glass out of the frame and spray it down with 4 light layers of Krylon chalkboard paint and put it back in the frame.
A very important tip in regards to making chalkboards is to spray some Pledge between each dry layer to ensure no dust has settled.
Before using the chalkboard, you have to “prep” the surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk all over the board.
I also picked up a pack of chalkboard marker pens to draw my fall themed picture.
I liked the idea of a chalkboard frame so much I made a small one for my kitchen as well!

Very cute! I didn’t know they made chalkboard spray paint - I’ve the brush on the convert a mirror, but how cool for using with frames. Definitely cuts down on work time!!! (and I’m all for that, lol) Jane (following you now!!!)

I prefer the spray paint to the regular paint. It looks cleaner and there are no brush strokes.

Great job! I love the idea of the little one for the kitchen. It would be such a handy place for writing down things to pick up at the store!
