This fall is our first fall in our first home and all I have been thinking about was how I was going to decorate everything like crazy for the holidays, especially the outside. Then my parents sold their house last week and I got a lot of free decor to use- score! But then came the sickening realization, I can’t decorate outside or landscape to save my life. I tried a container garden out front, but instead of looking fun and perfectly not put together, it looked like crap.
Thank goodness for Pinterest to give me ideas. I finally decided to keep it simple and sweet with a little fall vignette next to our front door.
My mom gifted me the old bench, lanterns, and milk jug, the Welcome sign was only $10- including the garland!- from a local Labor Day festival, and the pumpkins and hay bale were purchases from when I worked at Michael’s. I also got the yellow mums from Aldi for only $2.99!
Last week I shared the post about my sunflower wreath, and now I am wondering why I didn’t decorate with sunflowers sooner for fall!
Last year I posted about my DIY glittered Jack-o-Lantern and all I did was turn him around for fall instead of buying another pumpkin to display.
This week I’ve been working on another glittery pumpkin project, as it sometimes goes with projects, it isn’t going as quickly as I was hoping.

I have a piece of wood that I’ve been wonder what I could use it for and I think a welcome sign like that would be perfect. I cannot paint letters, so I was thinking of cutting them. I have a Silhouette Cameo - I’m just not sure if the vinyl would stick to the old wood. What do you think?

Lauree, I believe cutting vinyl would work for that project! I asked the lady who made the Welcome sign I bought and she said that she used vinyl stickers for that project.

We’re currently in the process of looking for a house, so I haven’t gotten in full-on fall decor mode. However, you bet I will be once we finally find a new home, and your cute little vignette here is giving me lots of inspiration! I especially love the sign and bench. It’s just lovely! Thank you so much for sharing this with us at Merry Monday!
