Organizing A Spice Drawer

One thing that always frustrated me when cooking was having to dig through my spice drawer to find the one thing I needed. I figured I needed some uniformity and structure, so I started by grabbing some $2 glass containers from Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby usually has them on sale, so this project can be even more affordable!

hey can also be set at an angle, which is extra helpful and cute!

This is what my spice drawer looked like, on a GOOD day. Usually everything is pushed into the back because of me slamming the drawer shut out of irritation.

My spice collection quickly accumulated after my original attempt at organizing it and my terrible label job-or lack thereof- wasn’t working for me anymore.

On my trip to Hobby Lobby to pick up more jars I wandered to the scrapbooking section and found some super cute labels on sale for $1 a package (yay clearance!)- so I naturally bought 4 packages!

A quick job with a Sharpie- hey mom, check it out! I can write neatly!- and some reorganizing and my spice drawer now makes sense!

I also laid down some cling wrap for easy clean up of any spills. I’ve been browsing some stores for some more eye appealing contact paper, but haven’t found one that has “spoken to me” yet.

I didn’t bother messing with our BBQ spices, since we only have those seasonally. Hopefully no food experts are looking at this in terror, wondering why I organized it the way I did, I know my organizing only makes sense to me. AKA- color coding! 😀

This was a super affordable way to organize my spices, and now I can see clearly what I have a lot- or a little- of. I love how quick and simple this was, and was very surprised at how nice my handwriting turned out!

I have those same spice jars, but have yet to actually put labels on them. Mine all have a sticker on the bottom which makes it a little time-consuming finding the spice you want, I will have to check out the scrapbook section for some cute labels like yours so we can stop guessing which spice is which, Thanks fo sharing!

I’m impressed Krissy…think I’ll try this even though I don’t have a drawer I have a cupboard space that would work…now to get to Hobby Lobby:)

Definitely need to do this. Right now my spice shelf is an utter mess and it always takes me a bit to find a spice… Thanks for sharing! Pinning :)

Oh, to have a spice drawer that is as organized as yours. It seems as though every time I organize it the spices grow legs and reorganize themselves again. Hope you have a great day!

Love it! I recently reorganized my spice drawer in a similar way, using jam-sized mason jars. It is so much nicer!

It is actually so easy to keep it organized now! As long as you have the space, I’d definitely recommend trying something like this out. These containers could even work in a cabinet since they can sit at different angles.

Kristina ~ Good for you! Your spice jar drawer is awesome. I’m totally going to have to do this with my spices soon. I’m stopping by from the Newbie party to say hello, too.

I think this looks really good. I tried to organize my drawer with something I saw on Pinterest. It was cute at first, but is now a fail! I painted the tops of my lids with chalkboard paint and then wrote the spice names on it. Overtime it has become a mess. I like how neat and organized yours looks, and that it will STAY that way. Great job!
