Wanna know a secret? I found a beauty product that can remove stains from carpets! A while back I came home to find my beautiful white and gold rug had black marks all over it I thought they were Sharpie spots, but it turns out they were some mystery stain that reappeared on my carpet later on. I tried using lots of carpet cleaner, hot water and soap, and yelling at the carpet, but they weren’t coming out.
I randomly searched through my bathroom cabinet and thought to try something a little different because, well I had nothing to lose at this point!
Acetone nail polish remover became my new best friend that day.
I poured a bit onto each stain and let it sit for a moment, then scrubbed and blotted for a few minutes and- WAHLAH!The stains disappeared!
About 3 weeks later, more stains appeared and it worked again! Huzzah!!
I still don’t know what those stains were, but if they ever come back, I know just what to do with them!
Do you have any crazy cleaning tricks and tips?

good tip ! Just a question though, is your nail polish coloured ? Mine is usually pink, and I’m worried it would make the stain actually worse …

I use the clear acetone nail polish remover.

I’m going to try this! I have a few spots in front of my couch that keep coming back no matter what I do! I’ve spot treated them and even steam cleaned it. Maybe this will do the trick!

Good luck! I hope it works for you!

Good idea… I would just advise to try it in a small inconspicuous place first…. I have had nail polish remover MELT some types of fabric (and I mean it melted… just disappeared from the area!)… you don’t want that to happen on a carpet. Thank you for the good idea, though.

This is a great tip. Did you try it on the gold sections of the rug, too, or just the white? I’m wondering if it removes the color of the rug.

Yes! I tried it on both colors and there were no issues with melting the fabric or losing color. I did rinse the nail polish remove off with some warm water after the spot was removed. I would still try it in a non noticeable area first, just to be safe!
