DIY Gold and White Coasters

Recently my grandma let me rummage through her garage and take whatever I wanted. After filling a box full of vintage blue mason jars I found these kind of ugly coasters in a box. Since they were free and in great shape I decided to snag them to give them makeover.
Lucky for me I found some stencils in my craft room stash and some white and gold spray paint.
Supplies:
  • Coasters
  • Stencils
  • Spray Paint
  • Sealer (poly, wax, etc)

Before busting out the spray paint, be sure to clean off your coasters and dry them and work on a clean surface. When spray painting you don’t want to be working on a dirty surface to avoid spraying around any dirt onto your coasters (learned from experience….).

You also want to work in short bursts and light coats. I did two coats of gold on the coasters and let dry between each coat.

After that layer dried I added my stencils. I already had an idea of what I wanted to do after I saw my stencils, so I didn’t really plan it out much. I’d recommend before any painting to cut out your stencils and lay them on your stencil until you like the layout and take a photo for reference after you paint.

After the stencils were laid out nice and pretty, and firmly and flatly, I grabbed my white spray paint and did 3 light layers with a few touch ups.

Finally, after removing the stencils I used some leftover wax from my prior projects to seal the coasters and brought them inside!
