Ever since we moved into our house making over our bedroom has always been on my mind. The room is so small and is supposed to be the one place in the house where you can fully relax and rest, so I kept trying to put it at the forefront of our to-do list.
The problem was that I kept changing my mind on what I wanted to do, and the paint colors? Yeah, I have never been so indecisive on something before. I bought at least half a dozen paint samples over the years and went through so many color chips on the walls before giving up.
And then our living room flooded and things got put on the backburner AGAIN for this room.
Well finally, FINALLY, this room is getting an update!
My style has been more well defined as of late and I finally sat down and realized- who cares if our house isn’t 100% Instagram or Pinterest worthy? If it is our style (well, mostly mine, Cyle doesn’t care too much) and makes us happy- to hell with anyone elses opinions
See, I kept changing my mind on what and how I wanted to reno this room because I kept thinking “Well, this just doesn’t fit the rest of the farmhouse-esque styled houses I keep seeing online”.
But guess what?
Our style is more cottage meets farmhouse meets industrial meets antique shop.
Call it whatever you want, but it’s what makes us happy.
Pops of blues, metals of various finishes, and tons of deep wood pieces make my heart flutter (Cyle’s heart doesn’t flutter, but he does love the less frilly style I’ve taken on).
So here we are, meet the inspiration behind our upcoming bedroom reno!
The walls are going to be painted this seafoam blue and the wall behind the bed will be shiplapped and stained a rich Walnut or Chestnut color (originally I wanted white, but the rich wood is more our style).
I also picked out new bedding at Target since our washer ripped a hole in our old duvet, and that ticking striped bedding actually inspired me to finally get the ball rolling on this.
And the fact that my husband is 7,000 miles away on deployment- mama’s gotta keep busy so she doesn’t go insane. 😉
At an architectural salvage sale we went to a while ago I picked out a few old window frames for a few bucks, and (hopefully) those will be hanging overlapping above the bed.
Also above the bed will be this gorgeous antique style chandelier I purchased online that I can’t wait to get here (not the one pictured, I couldn’t find a good photo of the one I did purchase online).
Going back to the bed, I’m crossing my fingers and toes that I can find a good deal on a black iron bed frame- which means some more shopping trips are in order.
We’re keeping our jute rug in the bedroom since it does a great job hiding the carpet we hate.
For the windows, Cyle made some iron curtain pull backs and a curtain rod (did you know he is a hobby blacksmith?!) and I’ll be trying my hand at drop cloth style curtains.
There are a ton more details I won’t bore ya’ll with yet- mostly because I may change my mind 100 times. 😉
Over the next several weeks I’ll be heading up the reno of the room and taking ya’ll along with me.
