Our bedroom lighting issue is… unique and frustrating to say the least.
Instead of having an actual light in the bedroom the light switch controls and outlet near the bed, which means we have always had an extension cord plugged into that outlet and running behind our bed (and under it) to plug in our lamps (because why in the world would they not put plug ins on the beds wall where the nightstand would go).
And then there were more extension cords plugged into another outlet for our phone chargers, essential oil diffuser, heating pad for the bed, and whatever else we needed.
It was a mess.
Plus the ceiling just looked kinda odd without a light on it.
It took me a lot of planning and thinking to figure out how we could fix the lighting issue without a ton of cords running everywhere and without running new electrical in the walls.
To fix this issue as much as possible, I purchased Mason jar pendant light kits from Michaels that are plug lights. I ended up having to run an extension cord from the outlet next to the bed just like before, but this time I was able to attach it along the trim to hide it more from view.
For our overhead light I bought this AMAZINGLY PERFECT AND GORGEOUS metal chandelier from DecorSteals.com (currently SO obsessed with them, not an advertiser for them, just love their style!) and some battery operated candles from Amazon.
The chandelier and candles are more for just decoration, while they don’t provide much in the terms of light, when the candles are on it creates such a gorgeous and soft glow in the room.
This room is normally fairly dark (thanks partially to a giant shade tree in front of the only window), so I made sure to go with higher wattage bulbs in the mason jar lights to make up for that, and I am also debating about a pretty floor lamp for in the corner by the closet, where a reading nook would just look so cozy.

While I had a ton of trouble finding a chandelier that looked remotely like the flash sale one I purchased, I found these two that had similar “vibes” and that I still love!
So what do ya’ll think of the lighting choices? Not bad for not having ANY real lights in the room and not being able to run electrical, in my opinion. J
